The exact duration of results varies from client to client, depending on how quickly their body metabolizes the botulinum toxin. Typically, you can expect your results to last about 2.5 to 4 months.

Wrinkle relaxers have an additional benefit in that they become more effective the longer you use them. If you maintain a regular schedule of Botox appointments, you train your muscles to relax, leading to a longer duration of results.

Starting two days before your appointment, avoid aspirin, vitamin E, St. John’s wort, and any other supplements or medications containing ginkgo, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, and ginseng. Don’t take any ibuprofen and don’t drink any alcohol for two days before your appointment. On the day of your appointment, arrive at Aesthetic Elevation Knoxville with a clean, bare face.

Immediately after you receive Botox or another wrinkle relaxer, do not massage the treated areas. Wait at least 4 hours before lying down. For the rest of the day, avoid any activities that might cause facial flushing or apply heat to the treatment area. This includes drinking alcohol, using a hot tub or sauna, tanning, or strenuous workouts.

To reduce discomfort, swelling, and bruising for the first few days after your appointment, gently apply a cool compress to your skin for 15 minutes every few hours as needed. It’s normal to experience bruising up to 10 days after treatment, at which point, it should resolve on its own. We may recommend using Arnica, either as a supplement or a topical application, to further reduce bruising and swelling.
