Andy Rooney died Friday night at the age of 92 from complications from minor surgery. Rooney recently stepped down from his post at 60 Minutes, capping a storied 60+ year career complete with rhetoric and funny gripes for all. Rooney was a fixture in my family’s household of news buffs and bookworms. We would gather around the tube to see what he said next. He never disappointed.
What I always loved about Rooney was the fact that he always saw himself as simply as writer, as if all the other titles he had under his belt were just happy occurrences along the way.
Condolences to the Rooney family and his colleagues at CBS. This is indeed a sad day.
We are losing our true icons at a rapid pace. Lord help us all. Rise above…
