Greetings! As we anxiously await spring (especially on the East Coast), I can only imagine all the cool fashion that will hit the stores and boutiques. Spring is also a great time to prep for all the cool events that happen in the summer. One event I look forward to for my fashion fix is Baltimore Fashion Week (BFW).
Now in its third production year, Baltimore Fashion Week brings a runway event that is ours. It never claims to compete with Bryant Park but extends an all-inclusive opportunity for designers and related creatives to come together and put on a quality runway event. Notice I said, runway event, not fashion show (and yes, there is a difference).
Created by Butterfly Productions, led by CEO, Sharan Nixon, the annual fashion event which runs in August, has created avenues not only for designers to showcase rack ready collections, but enables makeup artists, writers, and other volunteers to experience working at a runway event firsthand. It brings local, regional, national, and international designers and sponsors from around the country and globe to give the city of Baltimore, which houses many in the creative communities but lack the exposure that more major metropolitan cities enjoy. Aesthetic Elevation is proud to be a returning sponsor for BFW’s 2010 season.
That said, I, RiaRob, am happy to make two announcements:
First, I have been appointed to the role of PR/Media Director for Baltimore Fashion Week’s 2010 season. I am excited and am already working diligently to make my contribution to this event and the creative community at large.
Second, Aesthetic Elevation has been named the official sister blog for Baltimore Fashion Week. I am working closely with Sharan in relaunching BFW’s official blog, which will definitely not disappoint. This is a huge endeavor for me. It shows that hard work does pay off. Coupled with the power of fervent prayer, I am floating right now!
My first step in my role(s) is to obviously get the word out. Aesthetic Elevation now has a section completely dedicated to Baltimore Fashion Week including announcements, updates, links, and interviews. Stay tuned.
The 2010 season for Baltimore Fashion Week will run August 9 -13, 2010. I look forward to connecting with all of our guests, designers, models, and staff.
Rising above (in more ways than one!),
RiaRob
