Aesthetic Elevation

Greetings from the one and only RiaRob! It is 2010 and if you are reading this, the Most High brought you through a holiday season and saw it fit that you make it into a new year with the use of your limbs and control over your faculties. That in and of itself is a good look indeed.

I took the rest of 2009 to rework my plan for 2010. I needed to rest and simply replenish the well. I was blessed with absolutely wonderful interviews via The Sit Down section and even better events with the View from the Top Section. So to everyone I interviewed in 2009, you touched my spirit in a way that you could hardly imagine.

However, I would be remiss if I did not say that the latter part of 2009 took a toll on my mind, body, and passion for blogging as I experienced a huge amount of loss in a short span of time over the holiday season. I lost my cousin suddenly in early November, only to deal with the sudden death of my sister’s boyfriend in early December. This all while trying to maintain my home, provide for my son, help in the care of my mother, and still make time for myself. In short, I was simply beat, tired, and simply looking to rest and renew my mind.

I am very happy to say that said well is replenished, full and ready to go. I am happy, healthy, rested, and encouraged for what is to come in my life and this blog. I say that to say this:

1. Know your limit. No one can judge you if you decide to take a breather. I felt so much guilt over not blogging consistently that I simply shut down. That was my “never again.” Aesthetic Elevation is my creation and I will run it as I see fit. I would advise the Elevation Nation to do the same with their endeavors. This is not to say be lazy, shiftless, or unaccountable. I am simply saying to pace yourself.

2. Surround yourself with like-minded support. If people are not down for you, get rid of them immediately. They are part of your problem, not your solution.

3. No one person is ever that important to where you settle. EVER…

4. Run your race, at your pace, and you will win EVERY TIME.
